Despite 63-33 victory, Beef head to playoff as sixth seed.

Playoff seeding was on the line as the Beef traveled to Bossier City, Louisiana to face the 1-7 Rouxgaroux and Omaha took care of its own part winning 63-33, but Colorado came back and defeated the Salina Liberty as both teams ended the regular season 5-5. The Beef and Spartans split the season series, but Colorado had the tiebreaker, so Omaha got the sixth seed as Colorado took the fifth seed.  Omaha will now travel back to Sioux City next Saturday to face the third seed Bandits at the Tyson Events Center.  SW Kansas and Pueblo claimed the top two seeds and first round byes.

Brookshire Grocery Arena crowd got to see a fast start as both teams combined for 21 points in the first 3:12 of the game. Omaha’s Dequan Dudley returned the opening kickoff 50 yards for a touchdown only to see the Rouxgarou’s Jamarsha Huglon do the same thing on the ensuing kickoff. The third kickoff was returned by D’Nerius Antoine to the Louisiana seven yardline and on the first play David Ross rushed the ball for a touchdown for a 13-6 Beef lead.  Chase Contreraz then kicked a deuce, and it was 15-6 with 11:48 remaining in the first quarter.  The Beef would add two more touchdowns as Antoine had a two-yard touchdown run and Vincent Espinoza hit Devanaire Conliffe for a 14-yard touchdown pass and it was 29-6 after the first quarter.

The Rouxgaroux would add a Dajon Richard one-yard rushing touchdown to start the second quarter only to see the Beef scoring the next three times with a Ross three-yard rushing touchdown, Antoine 42-yard rushing touchdown, and a Lorenzo Thompson 4-yard touchdown reception and it was 50-13 with 2:38 remaining in the first half.  Louisiana scored with nine seconds remaining as quarterback Chauncey Lowman ran in from a yard out and it was 50-21 at halftime.

Louisiana got the ball to start the third quarter and drove down the field to score the only points of the quarter to cut it to 50-27, but Omaha opened up the fourth with two more scores as Antoine caught a 12-yard touchdown pass and Ross bulldozed his way to a 40-yard touchdown reception. Levonta Hall would close the scoring as he rushed for an 18-yard touchdown as the game time was nearing the end as the Beef ended the regular season at 5-5.

Espinoza finished 11 of 13 for 141 yards and four touchdown passes as Conliffe (3-36yds), Ross(2-52yds), Thompson(2-7yds), and Antoine(1-12yds) each had one touchdown reception. Antoine had six carries for 61 yards and two touchdowns while Ross and 28 yards on five carries and two touchdowns. Dudley hauled in three passes for 34 yards to go along with three kick return for 115 yards. Contreraz finished with making seven of his eight extra point tries and getting the deuce.

Newly signed Rodall Rahmaan led the Beef with six tackles. He has a 47-yard fumble return for a touchdown that was called back because of a Beef penalty. Freedom Akinmoladu had five tackles and a sack as Brandon Munoz added a sack with his two tackles. Chris Perry forced a fumble that was recovered by DeAnthony Hall-Steel and Jaylen Perkins had an interception for Omaha.

Lowman completed eight of his 20 passes for 90 yards and one interception as Richard gained 32 yards on nine carries. Trayv’on Culbert had five receptions for 38 yards while former Beef player Jordan Barton had one reception for 44 yards that help setup a score. Brain Isaac led the team with four tackles. Keontae Chavies and Malik Allen picked up sacks and Levonta Hall recovered a Beef fumble for the Rouxgaroux.

Sixth seed Omaha will travel to third seed Sioux City Saturday with the winner advancing to play the Pueblo Punishers the following week. The Beef are 5-0 vs the Bandits in the playoffs including the NAL championship game in 2024 that went into double overtime.
