| Omaha Beef @ Louisiana Rouxgaroux May 30th – 7:05pm CT Brookshire Grocery Arena |
|
The Omaha Beef (4-5) closes the regular season by traveling to Bossier City, Louisiana to take on the 1-7 Rouxgaroux. The two teams meet earlier in the month in Ralston with the Beef crushing the Rouxgaroux 52-6. Last week the Beef kicked a game winning field goal as time expired to defeat the Colorado Spartans 30-27 as SW Kansas stayed unbeaten by beating Louisiana 49-13 in Dodge City, Kansas. Omaha is looking towards the playoffs with seeding still up for grabs as they could get the fifth or sixth seed and travel to either Sioux City, Salina, or Pueblo. The third seed will host the sixth seed, and the fourth seed will host the fifth seed as the first and second seeds get first round byes.
During their four-game winning streak the Beef averaged 43.75 points per game and allowed only 22.0 ppg. Furthermore, they have made 52 first downs compared to 39, outgained opponents in rushing yards 333 to 153, passing yards 552 to 418, gained an average of 6.0 ypa compared to 3.6. Dequan Dudley has six touchdowns and 38 points, Devanaire Conliffe has six touchdowns and 36 points, Ivan Corbin has scored 30 points with his five touchdowns. Chase Contreraz has made 18 of his 22 extra point tries. Defensively they have a +2-turnover margin, including seven interceptions. The team has also made 8 sacks, led by Brandon Munoz with 5. Durning this streak he also has 7.5 tackles for loss and three safeties.
During the first meeting the Beef outgained the Rouxgaroux 280 to 60 and forced five turnovers. Vincent Espinoza went 10 of 18 passing for 177 yards with five touchdowns and three of the scoring tosses went to Dudley. The Beefense held quarterback Larry Moton to 2 of 22 passing with four interceptions and only 17 yards of passing.
Espinoza is averaging 131.3 yards per game passing and 45.7 rushing ypg in his three games this season. He averages 8.1 ypa and his total offense of 177 ypg ranks third in the NAL. He was gone 34 of 61 passing for 394 yards and 11 touchdowns with only two interceptions with a passer rating of 101.4 which is third best in the league. Espinoza is second on the team with 137 rushing yards tailing only David Ross’s 144 yards.
Dudley leads the team with 19 receptions for 322 yards and ten touchdowns while Conliffe is second with 18 receptions for 259 yards and seven touchdowns. Dudley also leads the team in kickoff returns with 389 yards on 23 attempts and ranks second in all-purpose yards averaging 97.4 ypg. This week the Beef signed Korrell Koehlmoos and Arthur Anderson IV for depth. Contreraz has made 30 of 37 extra point tries and two of this 11 field goals and was named week 12 Special Teams player of the Week on Tuesday.
Defensive back Jaylen Perkins continues to lead the team in tackles (37), interceptions (4), and pass breakups (8). Jaylen Johnson and Jayshawn Washington are tied with 31 tackles. Munoz is next with 28 tackles with five sacks, 11 tackles for loss. Omaha did announce that Jayshawn Washington went on the injured reserve list, but signed Rodell Rahmaan. They also signed Keyshawn Cobb for defensive back depth.

Watch party @ Hurrdat Sports Bar and Grill Saturday night.
SW Kanas as the number one seed and home field advantage throughout the playoffs and receives a first-round bye will travel to Sioux City Saturday.
The second seed is realistically between Salina (6-3) and Pueblo (6-3). Salina plays at Colorado, Amarillo @ Pueblo. If Salina wins, they are the two seed. If they both win, Salina gets the two seed since they defeated the Punishers 40-34 on April 4 in Salina. Pueblo will get the second seed if they win and Salina loses to Colorado. If Salina and Pueblo both lose and Sioux City wins all three teams would be 6-3. Currently, Salina has the best point differential/strength of schedule of the three, but Sioux City has a chance depending on scores.
Sioux City most likely will get the fourth seed but could grab the third seed with a win and depending on the scores of the Sioux City, Salina and Pueblo games. Sioux City holds the tiebreaker over Omaha
Omaha will be either the five or sixth seed. To get the fifth seed the Beef will have to win and have Colorado lose to Salina. If they both lose or win, Omaha will be the sixth seed due to tiebreaker.
Omaha Beef Coaches Show at Goose’s Bar & Grill in downtown Papillion starts at 6pm.
