Beef claim second win with 52-6 victory over Rouxgaroux

Omaha allowed only three first downs, a total of 65 yards and picked of Larry Moton four times in getting their second victory of the season in a 52-6 rout of the Louisiana Rouxgaroux Saturday night at Liberty First Credit Union.

Vincent Espinoza threw for 177 yards and five touchdowns in his first game of the season for the Beef. Offensively, Omaha had 280 yards on 35 plays as Espinoza went 10 of 18 passing and ran three times for another 37 yards. David Ross (5 rushes 49 yds) and Jayshawn Washington (2 rushes 6 yards) each scored rushing touchdowns as the team ran for 103 yards on 17 carries.

Dequan Dudley caught three passes for 76 yards and three touchdowns as fellow wideouts Ivan Corbin (4 rec 43 yds) and Lorenzo Thompson (2 rec 49 yds) each added a touchdown.

But this game was all about the Beefense. Jaylen Perkins had three interceptions and three pass breakups to go along with two tackles as they held Louisiana quarterback Larry Moton to completing only two of his 22 passes. Trey Dudley-Giles added the other interceptions, and Devanaire Conliffe and Brandon Munoz picked up sacks.  Munoz now has three safeties in the last two games. The defensive line of Conliffe, Munoz, Freedom Akinmoladun, and David Francis gave Moton little time to set his feet and make good throws all night as Omaha scored 21 points of those interceptions.

Omaha currently controls the sixth and final playoff spot as they had to Sioux City for the 57th meeting between the two teams next Saturday at the Tyson Events Center.
