Beef return to action Saturday at Chicago
- Updated: April 5, 2016
It’s time for another road trip for the Beef! This weeks’ opponent is the CIF Northern Division newcomer Chicago Eagles. This will be the first of four meetings this season for the Beef and the Eagles. The Beef are coming off a bye week looking to be refreshed and ready for action as the Omaha “Beef-ense” looks to continue its stronghold as a leader in the CIF.
The Omaha Beef currently are tied for second in Scoring Defense TD’s allowing only 21 touchdowns through the first four games. On the same side, the Beef are currently 4th in the league in total defense allowing an average of 205 yards per game, are currently the league leader in Rushing Defense, and also 1st in the league in allowing the fewest first downs of any CIF team. Stephan McCord continues to show his presence on the field as he is the league leader in Interception Return TD’s (Pick Six’s) and is in the top 3 leaders of the league in both number of Interceptions and Interception Return Yards. Kewan Alfred is currently the league leader in Tackles for Loss and 4th in the league in Sacks. While the defense has really stepped up its game this season, the offense is also looking to gain some traction behind QB Joshua Floyd, Jr. Receivers Kayne Farquharson and Jeremiah Oates are league leaders from Floyd’s completions to the two receivers. Both are currently in the top 10 for Reception TD’s and Farquharson in Reception Yards. Head Coach Cory Ross hopes to keep this momentum moving in the right direction and continue the winning ways for the Beef this season. “The season is still young, and we have a lot to put out on the field. If we continue to lead this group in the ways that we have planned, we know great things will come. We have the passion and drive and want to know we have put everything out on the field.”
Be sure to join Omaha Beef fans this Saturday night at the Regency Lodge (909 S. 107th St.) for the Official Omaha Beef Viewing Party, where for all the away games this season, you can join fans, Rump Roasters & Prime Dancers to cheer on the Beef all season long!
