Backup QB Steed Flawless In 50-27 Beef Victory

RALSTON, NE — Backup QB Brandon Steed was thrust into duty and responded by completing 13 of 18 passes for 161 yards and 5 TDs en route to a 50-27 victory over the Chicago Eagles (2-5) Friday night at Ralston Arena.

With starting quarterback Joshua “Superman” Floyd Jr. a last-minute scratch due to an undisclosed injury, Steed made his first career start. He guided the Beef (4-3) to their second highest point total of the season while committing zero turnovers.

WR Jeremiah Oates led the Beef with five receptions for 75 yards and 3 TDs. WR Kayne Farquharson had four catches for 53 yards and 2 TDs.

A week after the Beef offense turned in their most productive game of the season, the Beef defense matched that by allowing a season-low 27 points.

The Beef-ense dominated the second half thanks to consistent pressure on Eagles quarterback Anthony Iannotti and surrendered only 14 points, including zero in a decisive fourth quarter.

The unit broke up a total of eight passes, punctuated by DB Stephan McCord’s 26-yard INT return for a TD deep in the fourth quarter.

Jesse Robertson led the defense with 9 tackles and 1.0 tackles for loss. Devon Bridges had 7 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss including a sack.

The Beef are back in action Saturday night as the Bloomington Edge (2-4) make their first visit to the Slaughterhouse.

Season ticket packages for the remaining three home games are still available for as low as $45!
